This Road Will Never End
Scene - Road Soliloquy from My Own Private Idaho
Oil painting 18 X 32"
Artist Notes: Impressionism felt like the only way to go with those fields. To keep the impressionist feel I worked quickly, completing this piece in 4 hours. I also, intentionally forwent using a mahl stick, which lead to our hero having a bit of a cartoon feel to him. I felt this worked well since the scene has an edge of dark humor to it. His ear and coat ruff also became sculptural as the impasto became 3D in the scene.
